Fact Sheet
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger ran his campaigns and was elected into office on promises of "No new taxes. Period." He also pledged to reduce wasteful government spending. When discussing Obama's tax increase proposals during his most memorable John McCain Campaign Speech last year, Schwarzenegger said, "Explain to me the advantage of raising all those taxes in the middle of a recession." On February 20, 2009, Governor Schwarzenegger signed into Law a new budget which includes:
- Doubling of the Car Registration Fee
- Raising of the State Income Tax
- Raising of the State Sales Tax
- Removal of the Child Tax Credit
"California already has the highest income tax in the nation, the highest sales tax rate, the highest gas tax, and the highest corporate tax in the West with our property taxes being at the national average, combining for the 47th worst business tax climate in America." (Chuck Devore 8/5/2008)
With the approval of this budget (in the middle of a severe recession), California is now well on its way to being the highest taxed state in the nation per capita. Government spending is 40% higher now than it was at the time of Schwarzenegger's election and even more tax increases are already being discussed. Governor Schwarzenegger, explain to us why we should keep you in office.
This is not about Party. This is not about Left or Right, Conservative or Liberal. This is about Right and Wrong. Period.
